As we wrap up an incredible year with the Family and Community Health Sciences Department of Mercer County, I’m proud to reflect on the programs, partnerships, and initiatives that have strengthened our community’s health and well-being. From promoting nutrition and physical activity to advancing equity and food security, this year has been filled with opportunities to learn, share, and grow together. These highlights represent not only the work we’ve accomplished but the collective effort of our partners, volunteers, and residents who make this mission possible.
Five Highlights I’m Most Proud of This Year
- Delivering High-Impact Educational Programs
From the Seasonal Foodies webinar series promoting Jersey Fresh produce to the World Arthritis Day session on gentle stretches for joint health, I provided practical, accessible education that supported healthier lifestyles and strengthened community connections. - Leading Equity and Justice Conversations
I co-facilitated a thought-provoking webinar series on racial equity in food systems, using tools from the Food Solutions New England 21-Day Challenge. This program sparked meaningful dialogue on inclusion and justice within nutrition and food systems education. - Representing Mercer County on National and International Platforms
I hosted a workshop on Participatory Action Research at the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics International Conference, moderated a key session at the Society of Nutrition Education and Behavior International Conference, and presented at the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. Additionally, I was honored to present at the New Jersey Society for Public Health Education conference and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Meeting, sharing strategies for advancing health equity and community engagement. - Advancing Food Security Advocacy
Through participation in Bite the Power, a statewide event hosted by the NJ Office of the Food Security Advocate, I collaborated with school leaders and community partners to promote equitable access to school meals and strengthen food security initiatives. - Building Inclusive Community Engagement
I proudly attended Mercer County’s first Equality Gala, celebrated Pride Month with a new resource on inclusive practices, and contributed to the Women’s Wellness Symposium hosted by the NJ Department of Corrections. These efforts reflect my commitment to fostering belonging and supporting marginalized communities.

Looking ahead to 2026, I’m excited to continue building on these successes by expanding educational programs, fostering inclusive practices, and deepening community engagement. Together, we can create healthier, more equitable food systems and empower individuals and families to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this year—your participation and collaboration make all the difference. Here’s to another year of learning, partnership, and positive impact in Mercer County!
