Snip-n-Stitch is a Mercer County 4-H sewing and crafting club that meets twice a month. During meetings, members learn and practice different sewing and crafting techniques. At last month’s meeting, one of the teen members, Riley Ginter, taught the club the basics of crocheting. The teens enjoyed learning from their fellow club member.
Incorporating a camera into the lesson and projecting the image on a screen allowed the teens in the room to take a close look at the technique and see how Riley was putting together the stitches as she crocheted.
The club members were learning the chain stitch and working towards crocheting little stuffed ducks. This lesson fits the
4-H motto of “Learn by Doing.” The sewing club meets twice monthly in Ewing and accepts members in 4th– 12th grades. Contact mercer4h@njaes.rutgers.edu to get involved!
