Attention, Mercer County!
This October, Ricardo from the Family and Community Health Sciences Department (FCHS) joined forces with Hyacinth and Trenton Health Team to celebrate the health and well-being of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals in our community. On October 10th, in honor of National Coming Out Day on October 11th, we held an exciting event featuring a diverse array of community partners dedicated to providing education and resources on health, wellness, food security, and social support.
Participating organizations included:
- Capital Health
- Hunterdon-Mercer Chronic Disease Coalition
- Crossroads4Hope
- Rutgers Cancer Institute
- Capital City Farms
- Trenton Area Soup Kitchen
- Center for Family Services: Pride Center
- Mercer County Division of Health
- Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County, Department of Family and Community Health Sciences
- Hyacinth of Mercer County
- Trenton Health Team – NJ Cancer Education & Early Detection
A special thank you to Hyacinth for bringing your mobile unit to conduct HIV testing, Trenton Health Team for providing A1C testing, and Mercer County Division of Health for offering flu vaccines.
To further support the LGBTQIA2S+ community during the coming-out and inviting-in process, we invite you to visit the Wellness Wednesday with FCHS webinar hosted by Ricardo, titled “Celebrating National Coming Out Day”. You can access it here
This event is part of our ongoing commitment to the the Mercer County LGBTQIA2S+ Community Coalition, which Ricardo co-founded with community partners earlier this year.
