The Rutgers On-Farm Food Safety Team, led by Meredith Melendez, hosted a beginning farmer produce safety workshop at the Rutgers Cream Ridge Research Farm. Sixteen participants learned about developing a worker training program, water quality assessments, wildlife pathogen risk management, and food contact surface sanitation. The workshop included field activities where the students evaluated risks and problem-solved appropriate responses. This training will be followed by a food safety plan writing class.
