Mercer County 4-H teens joined Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Passaic, and Union County teens to brave the winter chill at the L.G. Cook 4-H Camp for a weekend of camping.

The Mercer cohort started their weekend on Friday after school as they traveled up to camp from the Mercer Cooperative Extension Office. The camp allowed teens to participate in various recreational activities, including sledding, cooking, crafting, and board games. In addition to the fun and games, the teens also took a guided hike through the snowy trails, learning about the local flora and fauna and developing a deeper appreciation for nature. The camp also emphasized the importance of community service, with the teens working together on a project benefitting Meals on Wheels recipients. The winter camp provided a unique and memorable experience for these 4-H teens, combining outdoor adventure with community building.

The L.G. Cook 4-H Camp offers week-long summer camp sessions for youth aged eight and up from throughout New Jersey. Youth also have the opportunity to join the camp’s extended session, which is 18 days. All sessions include a comprehensive curriculum for the campers mixed with a lot of fun and themed weeks.
