Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) is excited to promote healthy lunch, snack, and drink ideas to help parents get creative with meals during this back-to-school season! Nutrition Educators Cate and Odalis attended the Trenton Public School Back-to-School Extravaganza to provide fruit-infused seltzer samples and healthy beverage handouts. They spoke with over 400 individuals, who were grateful for the recipes and information provided. FCHS also attended Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School’s Back-to-School night, where they spoke with parents about building balanced meals to help their kids stay focused during school and extracurricular activities.
FCHS is also excited to be setting up School Wellness Committees at two Hamilton Township schools, Kuser and Wilson Elementary, as part of the CDC’s Whole School, Whole Child, Whole Community Model program. The program aims to continue advancing school wellness efforts through sustainable wellness policy, systems, and environmental changes.
