Rutgers Cooperative Extension partnered with NOFA NJ (The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey) to educate about the Rutgers Integrated Pest Management scouting program. This farm workshop was held at Terhune Orchards on July 10th and focused on the use of IPM practices on an organic farm. Important parts of an IPM program include regular scouting for pests, understanding the pest’s life cycle to strategically implement management practices, determining action thresholds, consideration of environmental factors that may be impacting the pest population, and lastly, pesticide controls.
