The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County hosted a Plant Propagation workshop on Saturday, June 1st, at Mercer Educational Gardens on the grounds of the Mercer County Stables, Federal City Road, Pennington.
The enthusiastic participants, all members of the general public, learned about different types of plant propagation and had the chance to do hands-on activities, including making and planting cuttings of house plants, succulents, and native shrubs such as winterberry and spicebush. Workshop presenter Dr. Megan Muehlbauer, Hunterdon County Agricultural Agent, also educated the group about tomato grafting and propagation using bulbs such as onions and lilies. Her years of hands-on experience and research in the field made her workshop a real treat to those looking to learn more about propagation!
A knowledgeable team of Rutgers Master Gardeners helped the participants with their hands-on activities to provide extra support and guidance.
It was a beautiful day to learn proper plant propagation techniques and a perfect way to enjoy some time in the Mercer Educational Gardens!
