This fall, FCHS resumed work with HomeFront Family Campus to provide nutrition education classes to their clients. HomeFront Family Campus accommodates almost 40 families, supplying them with housing and support services such as childcare and job training. FCHS led an exciting nutrition class where participants learned about the five food groups, discussed balanced MyPlate meals, and sampled a delicious vegetable stir fry in HomeFront’s well-equipped and beautifully appointed teaching kitchen! Participants remarked how nice it felt to sit around the kitchen table together, eating and learning. The teaching kitchen at HomeFront provides a space where all feel comfortable to connect and share about food. FCHS plans to teach more classes at HomeFront throughout the fall and winter to continue promoting good eating habits. The partnership between FCHS and HomeFront is a valuable resource to families in the community, empowering them to live healthier lives.
