South Jersey 4-H Teen Conference is a 66-year-old conference held annually for teens in eighth grade through the first year of college. Teenagers from eleven southern New Jersey counties plan the conference. This year’s theme was “Today’s Teens, Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The conference was held at the YMCA Camp of the Pines in Medford, New Jersey. Teens participated in getting-to-know-you games and various outdoor activities, including canoeing, outdoor living skills, archery, and high ropes. Service is also a part of 4-H leadership development, and the teens made 100 tug toys for dogs that they donated to local animal shelters. They also created birthday cards to give to children in foster care on their special day.
The teens concluded the weekend with a morning hike and an inspirational closing that motivated the teens to “Make the Best Better”!
