Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County hosted organic growers and Extension experts on March 7th. The roundtable event provides an opportunity for growers using organic practices to discuss production and business management priorities with Extension experts. This year the meeting was offered with both in-person attendance and online attendance. Six extension specialists and agents supported the growers in attendance. The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey (NOFA NJ) assisted with facilitating the meeting. Hot topics of discussion included pest management for organic sweet corn, cucumber beetle control methods, allium leaf miner flight timing, and organic certification options. Meredith Melendez, County Agricultural Agent, holds this meeting every other year as part of her responsibilities to provide education and outreach for farms using organic production methods.
