In December, three members of the Clever Clovers 4-H Club, including Abby Cappiello, the 2024-2025 Mercer County 4-H Ambassador, joined the Mercer County Board of Agriculture’s monthly meeting to discuss their 4-H animal club. The members shared a slideshow of photos of the events the club has participated in or hosted. They also explained their club’s purpose, their fundraising, and how the funds are used to benefit their members’ development and their involvement in the community.
The 4-H program has elected club officer positions, and parliamentary procedure is used to run the business portion of the youth meeting. Parliamentary procedure ensures that all meeting participants have an equal opportunity to share their ideas. It also helps provide a set of guidelines for conducting a business meeting.
The 4-H Clever Clovers are thankful for their invitation to attend the Mercer County Board of Agriculture meeting and share their club’s happenings. They also enjoyed the chance to observe another organization conducting its business meeting and listen to the ensuing discussions.
The Mercer County 4-H Ambassador position is a one-year term, beginning in November. One of Abby’s goals for the coming year is to visit the other clubs within the Mercer County 4-H program and learn about their yearly projects. She is excited to share some of her accomplishments with her fellow 4-Hers and to learn about theirs as well.
