Spring is on its way, according to the daffodils in bloom on the side of our building and the garlic starting to sprout up in front! Our annual garden symposium on March 16th sold out, and we received lots of positive feedback about our lineup of speakers.
We also had our first garden visit at the two locations of the Boys and Girls Club of Mercer County on Spruce Street and Centre Street to start planning our programming for the year. Our first garden clean-up and planting is on the books for early April 5th (volunteers welcome), and we are ready to get going and get growing! The April 5th work day will involve a morning shift at Centre Street and an afternoon shift at Spruce Street for garden clean-up, prep, and some direct sowing of cold, hardy crops. This event is being held during the Spring Break camp, so we will have our future gardeners and Mercer County Boys and Girls Club members there to participate in three stations involving preparing their garden and growing a plant for Mother’s Day.
