In partnership with the Center for Child and Family Achievement and the Gregory School, 15 families participated in several “Families Cooking Together” virtual nutrition and cooking classes. Before the classes, families are provided with ingredients for easy, fun, delicious, healthy recipes, and in addition to learning about nutrition, families cook together on -line from their own kitchens. Yummy recipes have included “Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes” and irresistible “Chocolate Chip Banana Oat Cookies.” For these recipes, the children led the family cooking effort by washing, cutting, and mashing the cauliflower and bananas and doing all the mixing. Then, their parents worked with them on how to safely cook using the stove and oven. The feedback has been very positive, with many families sharing how fun it was to cook together as a family while learning new cooking skills and how to eat healthier!
