4-H collaborated with our Family and Community Health Sciences department and several of our Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County to provide two summer day camps focused on food and culture for youth from the Children’s Home Society in July and August of 2021. As part of each week, the youth worked in the gardens of the historic William Trent House at 15 Market Street in Trenton, built in 1719. We are very appreciative of the staff and volunteers at the Trent House for sharing their knowledge and passion of history and crop production.
On the afternoon of November 4th, our Cooperative Extension staff and volunteers rejoined the Trent House staff to bring the children back to the gardens to enjoy the harvest and the fruits of their labor. If you like history, old homes, and gardens, we suggest you visit the Trent House. We look forward to future collaborations with them.
