During the month of April, Mercer County 4-H “planted” pinwheels in our office gardens to show support for the New Jersey Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, a network of chapters in all 50 states. Unfortunately, not all young people experience childhood like the carefree pinwheel blowing in the wind. The Pinwheels for Prevention® Campaign hopes to promote the importance of a happy and healthy childhood for all children, working to stop abuse and neglect before it starts.
4-H Youth Development strives to create a program that enables members to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. Supported by thoughtful and altruistic adult volunteers, 4-H youth thrive and achieve these goals through hands-on learning experiences. Community service is one of the encouraging and rewarding parts of the 4-H program. Many 4-H members see need in their communities and actively look for ways to make changes. This kind of thinking and awareness is needed for communities to ensure all our young people are able to be their very best.
